Seachem De*Nitrate is a top-of-the-line filter media designed specifically to provide additional support to the biological filtration process. The media itself is an economical, natural, porous material sporting a pore distribution, shape and large surface area that encourages beneficial anaerobic nitrification within the first few millimetres of depth and anaerobic denitrification at the core. Additionally, the media helps to remove harmful nitrates, nitrites, ammonia and organics that can cause harm or even kill your aquatic inhabitants.
Live rocks or reef rocks remove nitrate by anaerobic denitrification and Seachem De*Nitrate removes nitrate using the same process, except the efficiency of this process is magnified several folds by directing the water to filter through the porous filter media. Due to this process, excessive flow rates should be avoided, as they may impede the development of an adequate anaerobic environment to support denitrifying bacteria and as is the case with reef rock, anaerobic conditions are achieved by the porosity and the depletion of oxygen by the aerobic process at the surface.
De*Nitrate is an exceptional media for aerobic nitrification as well, making it an ideal biological filter in drip trays, canister filters, sumps or even box filters. As mentioned earlier, it is important to note that at high flow rates (greater than 100 GPH), it will function solely as an aerobic filter and at slow flow rates (less than 50 GPH), it will function as both an aerobic filter and an anaerobic denitrifying filter. This API pH Test Kit is a simple and accurate way to make sure your water levels are normal and don't need adjusting. It tests pH levels from 6.0 to 7.6 and includes approximately 250 tests per kit. The pH liquid tester is both easy to use and easy to read; all it takes is a few minutes each week to make sure your water levels are safe and properly balanced. Simply fill the provided test tube with 5 millilitres of water and add three drops of the pH solution. Mix gently and compare the colour to the solution to the test's colour card to read your results.

Seachem Flourite is a substrate of the highest quality. Composed of specially fracted stable porous clay gravel designed specifically for use in natural planted aquariums. The mineral-rich gravel is an attractive brown/red shade that is not chemically treated or coated and will not alter the delicate pH balances within the tank. The gravel is most effective when used on its own, but it may also be mixed with other types of substrate without any negative reaction. Gravel modifiers such as laterite are not necessary for the success of this gravel.
Despite the substrate being pre-washed, it should be thoroughly rinsed before use to remove any residual dust. Small amounts of initial cloudiness are normal and will clear quite quickly.
